Diabetes Can Be Cured? Diabetes mellitus, or lay community called it the disease diabetes, now seized the attention of the world of medicine. Disease marked by high levels of sugar in the blood is a disease and its complications at most the number of its victims is on the rise.

Diabetes mellitus or diabetes type two suffered mostly adults. The main causes are obesity and unhealthy eating patterns.

"Lifestyle is less motion and a diet change, let alone if it's got talent could spark for diabetes," said Prof. Sri Hartini KS Kariadi, SP. PD, in an event titled education media analysis of the economic impact of Diabetes in patients in Jakarta, Wednesday (8/8/03).

Although diabetes is included in dangerous diseases, but if blood sugar levels can be controlled with a healthy lifestyle, the sufferer still able to live healthy, productive, with a good quality of life.

More medical circles use the term diabetes controlled, not cured. Because if a patient eats again in vain, lazy to exercise, or not taking the drug control blood sugar, blood sugar levels will be high again.

Sri Hartini request that people take care of various treatments that offer clinics claim can cure diabetes.

"The purpose of treating diabetes is not to heal, but to prevent or delay complications," imbuh Professor of Faculty of medicine Universitas Padjadjaran in Bandung.

Complications arising from diabetes not only makes the disease gain weight but also increases spending for medical treatment and of course the quality of life of patients.

The toughest challenge of treating diabetes is its long-term and necessary discipline. Generally, there are five pillars of diabetes control, i.e. setting to eat, exercise, medication, education, as well as the measurement of blood sugar.

"Diabetes is considered to be controlled if the daily blood sugar levels normal without hipoglikemi events," he said.
